cities -- urbanity -- design
About me
My name is Joseph Heathcott. I am an urbanist by habit and educator by vocation. I work at The New School in New York, where I am Professor of Urban Studies. I also run the Laboratory for Urban Spatial and Landscape Research.
Much of my work takes shape on the border between scholarship and creative practice. You can read a longer formal bio on my New School faculty page. If you are interested, here is a short autobio, a list of current and recent talks, and interviews and other media. Or, you can just take a little walk with me along Roosevelt Avenue in Queens.
Check out the sections on what I do and where I work for more details. You can also see a rough chronology of my published, presented, and exhibited work, or click here for my full CV.
